Ludo Hero
Ludo Hero brings the centuries-old board game Ludo (a descendant of the Indian game Pachisi) onto the screen, keeping the rules intact while adding online matchmaking on top. You control four colored tokens that start off the board and need a roll of six to enter play; from there, dice rolls move them around the shared track toward your home triangle. Landing on an opponent's token sends it back to the start, unless that space happens to be one of the marked safe squares, which adds a bit of tension to every roll near another player's piece. You can play locally against two or three opponents, take on the computer solo, or jump into a match with people from anywhere in the world, picking a name and an avatar before you sit down at the board. How to play Ludo Hero
Setup
- Choose a match against the computer, local opponents, or players online.
- Each player controls four tokens of one color, starting outside the main track.
Playing a turn
- Click to roll the die.
- Roll a six to bring a new token onto the board, or move an existing token that many spaces.
- Move a token the number of spaces shown on any other roll.
- Land on an opponent's token on an unprotected space to send it back to their start.
- Get all four of your tokens around the board and into your home triangle to win.
Tips and strategy
Don't rush every token out at once — spreading your pieces too early leaves more of them exposed to being sent back by an opponent's roll. Use the marked safe squares whenever you can; parking a token there while you wait for a better roll is safer than sitting in the open. Rolling a six is valuable for more than just starting a new token — moving an already-advanced piece six spaces can put it out of an opponent's immediate reach. Pay attention to which of your opponent's tokens are close to catching up to yours, since a well-timed capture can undo several of their turns at once.
