Dark Dimensions is the same rotating cube as the other three dimensional mahjong games here, with one rule that changes everything: the clock is not fixed.
Certain tiles carry a time bonus. Matching them adds seconds. Ignore them and the timer runs out regardless of how well you are clearing the board. This turns a puzzle about finding matches into a puzzle about finding the right matches first, which is a much harder question under pressure.
How to play Mahjong Dark Dimensions: Triple Time
- Tiles are stacked into a rotating three dimensional block.
- Match two tiles with the same face to remove them.
- A tile is only selectable if nothing sits on top of it and one of its sides is clear.
- Drag to rotate the cube and see the faces behind it.
- Tiles marked with a time bonus add seconds to the clock when matched.
Clear the board before time runs out, which in practice means keeping the timed tiles in play as your fuel rather than treating them as ordinary matches.
Tips and strategy
- Locate the timed tiles before you take anything. They are the only thing standing between you and the end of the round.
- Never take one timed tile of a pair as part of a chain you are not finishing. Half a timed pair is worth nothing and you have just made the other half harder to reach.
- Spend timed matches when the clock is low, not when you find them. A bonus banked at forty seconds left is worth more than the same bonus at two hundred.
- Free the upper layers first. In a stacked cube, one tile removed from the top opens three or four beneath it.
- If you cannot find a legal match on the face you are looking at, rotate one quarter turn rather than spinning. Full rotations are how the clock is lost.
