Trizzle looks like a match three game and does not play like one. You do not swap two neighbouring pieces. You slide an entire row or column, and everything in it moves at once.

The second difference is what happens on a match. Three matching Matryoshka dolls do not disappear. They merge into one larger doll, and it takes another three of those to move up again. A board is not cleared by matching, it is cleared by matching several times over, which makes the middle of a level considerably more interesting than the start.

How to play Trizzle

  • The board is a grid of Matryoshka dolls in several colours and sizes.
  • Drag a row sideways or a column up and down. Every piece in that line shifts together.
  • Line up three dolls of the same colour and size to merge them into one larger doll.
  • Merge three of the larger dolls to grow them again.
  • Keep growing until the dolls reach their final size and leave the board.

Because whole lines move, a single drag changes many pieces at once. That is the main thing to get used to: the move that completes your match will usually break something else.

Tips and strategy

  • Plan two merges deep. A match that produces a large doll in a corner where no other large dolls can reach it is worse than no match at all.
  • Group the big dolls in the middle. The centre of the board is reachable by both a row slide and a column slide, the corners by almost nothing.
  • Before you drag, look at what leaves the line. In a sliding grid, one end of the row wraps or shifts out, and beginners lose set up pieces that way constantly.
  • Build the small dolls into stacks of three near each other rather than scattering matches across the board. Three separate large dolls in three corners is a dead position.
  • When a board tightens up, make the merge that frees the most space rather than the one that scores most. Space is what lets you keep sliding.

For conventional swapping match three, Jewels Blitz 4 and the rest of the match 3 games work the way you expect.

Frequently asked questions

How is Trizzle different from other match three games?

You slide whole rows and columns instead of swapping two pieces, and matched dolls merge into a bigger doll rather than disappearing.

What happens when I match three dolls?

They combine into one larger doll. Matching three of those grows them again, and only the final size leaves the board.

Can I swap two pieces directly?

No. Every move shifts an entire row or column, so each drag affects several pieces at once.

Is Trizzle free?

Yes. It plays in the browser with nothing to download and no account.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag a row or column with a finger the same way you would with a mouse.
