The catch is that a pair only counts if you can connect the two tiles with a line that bends no more than twice — so a tile boxed in by neighbors on every side, or blocked by a tile stacked on top of it, isn't available to match yet. That constraint is what turns a simple matching game into a real puzzle: you have to think about which tiles are actually free to move before deciding what to click next. Because there's no combat, no falling pieces, and nothing chasing you, it plays at a genuinely relaxed pace — good for working through a puzzle during a break without the pressure of a countdown.
How to play Fruit Mahjong
The setup
- Tiles are laid out in an overlapping pattern, sometimes stacked in layers.
- Only tiles that are exposed on top and free on at least one side can be selected.
Matching tiles
- Click one tile showing a fruit, then click a second tile with the exact same fruit.
- The two tiles clear from the board only if a connecting path between them uses no more than two turns and doesn't pass through another tile.
- Keep matching pairs like this until every tile is removed to finish the level.
When you're stuck
- If no valid matches are visible, look for tiles hidden under others that will become free once tiles around them are cleared.
- Working from the outer edges and the top layer inward usually opens up more matches as you go.

Clear the tiles sitting on the outer edges and top layers first, since those free up tiles underneath and beside them for future matches. Before committing to a pair, trace the path between the two tiles in your head — if it needs more than two turns to connect, it won't clear, so don't waste a click on it. Pay attention to tiles that only have one exposed side; those are the ones most likely to get sealed off completely if you clear the wrong neighbors around them, so prioritize matching them while you still can. If the board stalls, look one layer down rather than only scanning the surface — the fruit you need is often stacked just beneath a tile you already matched.
