Puppy Blast

Puppy Blast is a tap to clear game, which means there is no swapping and no matching three in a row. Any group of two or more blocks of the same colour that touch can be removed with a single tap.

That sounds easier than a standard match three and it is not, because the moves are limited and the target is specific. A level does not ask you to clear the board, it asks for a set number of blocks of a particular colour or the removal of a particular obstacle.

More than a hundred levels, and the interesting ones are the levels where the target sits somewhere your taps cannot easily reach.

How to play Puppy Blast

The board is full of coloured blocks and you clear them by tapping.

  • Tap any group of two or more touching blocks of the same colour.
  • The blocks above fall down to fill the space.
  • Larger groups produce boosters instead of just clearing.
  • Each level has a target shown at the top and a limited number of moves.
  • Hit the target within the moves to pass, and clear it comfortably for extra stars.

The boosters

  • A rocket clears an entire row or column.
  • A bomb removes everything in the area around it.
  • The magic cube takes every block of one colour off the board at once.

Stars and chests

Finishing with moves to spare earns more stars, and stars accumulate toward a chest. The daily missions do the same thing more slowly. None of it changes the puzzle in front of you, it just gives a completed level somewhere to go.

Tips and strategy

Tap low, not wherever the group is

Blocks fall downward. Clearing a group near the bottom of the board reshuffles everything above it, which creates new groups for free.

Clearing an identical group at the top changes almost nothing beneath it. Same tap, same colour, completely different value, and this is the habit that separates a player who runs out of moves from one who finishes with three to spare.

Grow groups instead of spending them

A group of four is worth clearing. A group of four sitting next to a group of three of the same colour, with one block between them, is worth much more if you can remove the block in the way.

Look for the small clear that joins two clusters before you take either of them. Boosters come from size, and size comes from patience.

Read the target before your first tap

A level asking for red blocks is a level where clearing blue is usually wasted, unless clearing blue drops reds into position.

This is the most common reason people fail a level with a board that looks well played. They cleared efficiently and cleared the wrong colour.

Boosters are for reaching, not for scoring

The temptation is to use a rocket the moment it appears, on whatever is convenient.

Save them for the part of the board your taps cannot reach. A rocket fired into a corner where an obstacle is sitting solves the level. A rocket fired into the open middle just removes blocks you would have removed anyway.

Combine them when you can

Boosters set off next to each other are worth far more than the same boosters used separately, and the difference is not small.

If two are on the board and neither is urgently needed, spend a move moving them together rather than firing them one at a time.

The last three moves

When the moves are nearly gone and the target is not met, stop playing tidily.

At that point the only tap worth making is the one that could finish it. A careful move that improves the board is worth nothing if there is no move left to use the improvement.

Cutting a losing attempt short

A level lost by a wide margin is usually a level where the target and the board were mismatched from the start.

Restarting immediately costs you nothing and gives a fresh arrangement. Grinding out a losing attempt to the last move mostly wastes the boosters you built.

Obstacles and how to reach them

Later levels put things on the board that a tap cannot remove. Crates, locked blocks, layers that need to be cleared more than once.

Almost all of them share one property, which is that they are affected by what happens next to them rather than by being tapped directly. Clearing a group beside a crate damages it. Clearing a group beneath it drops it, which matters when the objective is to bring something to the bottom of the board.

That changes where you tap. With a plain colour target you clear low and let gravity work. With an obstacle target you clear beside it, repeatedly, and gravity is often working against you.

Read which kind of level you are in before the first move. Playing an obstacle level with colour level habits is the most common way to run out of moves with the target barely touched.

Frequently asked questions

How do you clear blocks in Puppy Blast?

Tap any group of two or more touching blocks of the same colour. There is no swapping, so every move is a single tap.

How do I get rockets and bombs?

By clearing larger groups. A bigger group leaves a booster behind instead of simply disappearing, which is why joining two clusters is worth a move.

What does the magic cube do?

It removes every block of one colour from the board in one go, which makes it the strongest tool for a level with a colour target.

Where should I tap to get the most out of a move?

Low on the board. Blocks fall to fill the gap, so a clear near the bottom rearranges everything above it and creates new groups for free.

How many levels are there?

More than a hundred, each with its own target and move limit rather than a simple clear the board goal.

Is Puppy Blast free?

Yes, free in the browser with no download and no account.
