Word Game
Word Game
Word Game starts with three letters and asks you how far you can take them.
That is a smaller starting point than most puzzles in this genre, and it is the reason the game works. With three letters there is nowhere to hide. You cannot stumble into an answer by dragging your finger around a big rack, you have to actually think about what those three characters can become. Later levels widen the set, but the discipline the early ones teach carries through.
How to play Word Game
- Each level gives you a small set of letters, starting at three and growing as you progress.
- Click the letters in order to build a word, or tap them on a touch screen.
- Submit the word. Correct answers are recorded on the board.
- Find every word the level is looking for to move on.
- Each level carries a hint you can use when nothing else is coming.
The board is laid out in portrait, so it fits a phone screen without any pinching, and the same layout works on a desktop.
Tips and strategy
- Exhaust the short words first. On a three letter set there are rarely more than a handful of answers, and clearing them tells you immediately whether the level wants something longer.
- Watch which letters repeat. If the set gives you two of the same letter, the target word almost certainly uses both.
- Try the word out of order before you give up on it. Three letters can be arranged six ways and your eye will only offer you two of them.
- Save the hint for the level where you have found everything but one. Spending it on the first level that resists is the fastest way to run out of help later.
- Vowel placement is the usual sticking point. If a set has one vowel, the answer is built around where that vowel sits, not around the consonants.
For a bigger rack and the same building exercise, try Spellbound or the rest of the word games.

Is Word Game free?
Yes. It plays in the browser with no download, no account and no payment.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The board is laid out in portrait, so it fits a phone screen without scrolling sideways.
Is progress saved between levels?
Yes. Levels unlock as you complete them, so a session can be resumed rather than restarted.
