Standard memory games ask you to flip two cards and find an exact match. Flip Out changes the question to whether two cards belong together under whatever rule the current level sets, so you might need to pair a baseball with a bat, or match two cards from the same suit rather than two identical ones. That shift means you're leaning on categories and reasoning as much as on remembering where you've already seen a card, a noticeably different workout than the usual pairs game. The rule resets with each new level, so figuring out the current logic is often the actual puzzle before you start flipping in earnest, which keeps a genre that can get repetitive fairly interesting.
