Butterfly Kyodai Deluxe is a connect puzzle with butterflies in place of tiles. Pick two of the same kind, and if a legal path joins them they fly away.
The difficulty here is not the rule, which takes one sentence. It is the artwork. Butterfly wings differ by pattern and colour in combinations that are pleasant to look at and genuinely hard to sort at speed, so this version of the game is closer to a visual discrimination test than the tile based ones.

- Click another that matches it exactly.
- The pair clears if a path can be drawn between them.
- The path travels through empty space and may bend at most twice.
- Clear the board before time runs out.
The path rule
Straight, one bend, or two bends. Never three. This is why two butterflies sitting almost next to each other sometimes refuse to connect while two on opposite sides of the board join without any trouble.
The route may also travel around the outside of the grid, which is how most of the long connections work.
Tips and strategy
Sort by the right feature
Do not try to match whole butterflies. Pick one feature and scan for it: the base colour, or the pattern on the upper wing, or the shape of the outline.
Matching on a single feature is far faster than comparing complete images, and it is what stops you clicking two similar but different butterflies over and over.
Clearing order
- Take the ones locked inside the mass first, while empty space around them still exists.
- Leave the outer ring. Those keep their route around the outside until nearly the end.
- If a pair is blocked by one butterfly, check whether that one has a partner. Clearing the blocker is usually the real move.
When nothing is visible
Go through the kinds one at a time rather than sweeping the board. For each kind with two left, test the route out and around the edge before concluding there is no move.
Time
The clock tightens as the board thins, because the pairs that survive are the awkward ones. Being efficient in the first half is what buys you the second half, and there is no way to earn that time back later.
