How to play Mahjong Linker Kyodai Game

• Click two identical tiles.
• They clear if a path can be traced between them through empty squares.
• The path may bend at most twice and may run around the outside of the grid.
• Clear every tile before the clock stops.

Distance does not matter

The rule catches everyone at first. Two tiles at opposite corners connect easily, because a route out and around the edge is one bend at each end. Two tiles three squares apart inside a solid block often cannot connect at all, because the only route would need three turns.

Once you stop judging by distance the board becomes far more readable.

Tips and strategy

Order of clearing decides the game

Clearing the outside ring first feels productive and quietly ruins the position. Those tiles were connectable at any point, and removing them early spends your safe moves while the difficult interior is still intact.

Work inward first. Take the tiles hemmed in on all sides while the space to reach them exists.

Reading the board quickly

• Scan by suit, not by tile. Look at all the circles, then all the bamboo, then the characters.
• Within a suit, read the number rather than the picture. Bamboo faces in particular blur together.
• Note where the fourth copy of a face is when you clear the first two, because that pair often becomes the endgame problem.

Beating the clock

• Never hunt for a specific pair. Take any legal move and let the board change.
• Do not stare. If nothing appears in a few seconds, shift your attention to another quarter of the board.
• Treat hints as a last resort after a full pass, not as a first response to hesitation.

The usual mistakes

• Assuming adjacent tiles always connect.
• Forgetting the route around the outside of the grid.
• Clearing every easy pair in the opening minute and meeting a locked core with half the clock gone.
