Mahjongg Toy Chest
Mahjongg Toy Chest
Mahjongg Toy Chest is classic mahjong solitaire with the traditional bamboo and character tiles replaced by toys, drawn in a soft isometric style.
The theme is not decoration for its own sake. Traditional mahjong tiles are deliberately similar to each other, and a large part of the difficulty in a standard set is telling the circles apart. Toys are distinctive, which shifts the challenge away from squinting at tile faces and onto the part that actually matters: reading the stack.
How to play Mahjongg Toy Chest
- Tiles are laid out in a stacked pattern, and every layout is different.
- Find two tiles showing the same toy and click them both to remove the pair.
- A tile can only be taken when nothing rests on top of it and either its left or its right side is open.
- Clear every tile to finish the layout.
There is no timer, so a board can be studied for as long as you want. The constraint is the layout itself: a badly ordered set of matches will leave you with tiles that can no longer be reached.
Tips and strategy
- Read the whole board before your first match. In mahjong solitaire the first ten moves decide whether the board is solvable, not the last ten.
- Always clear the top layers first. A tile removed from the top frees the ones under it. A tile removed from an edge frees nothing.
- When four identical tiles are visible, take the two that are blocking the most. Taking the convenient pair often buries the other two permanently.
- Watch for long rows. The tiles in the middle of a row are locked until one end is cleared, so a row of six is really a queue.
- If two matches are available and only one opens new tiles, take that one even if the other is easier to see.
The rest of the layouts are on the mahjong page, and the three dimensional version is Mahjong Dimensions: 900 seconds.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mahjongg Toy Chest timed?
No. There is no clock, so a layout can be studied for as long as you like before committing to a match.
When can a tile be removed?
When no tile rests on top of it and either its left or right side is free. A tile with neighbours on both sides is locked.
How many layouts are there?
Dozens, and they differ enough that a strategy which works on one will not automatically work on the next.
Can a board become unsolvable?
Yes. Clearing the wrong pair can bury tiles you still need, which is why reading the stack before matching matters more than matching quickly.
Is it free?
Yes. It plays in the browser with nothing to install and no account.
