Catch the Candy

Catch the Candy is a physics puzzle. A small elastic creature sits at the bottom of the screen, the candy sits somewhere awkward, and the only thing you can do is stretch out and grab a surface.

There is no walking and no jumping. You anchor to something, you swing, you release. Everything else follows from momentum, which is why the same level looks impossible for five attempts and then trivial once you see the arc.

How to play Catch the Candy

  • Click and drag toward a surface to stretch out and stick to it.
  • Release to let go and let momentum carry you.
  • Chain grabs to swing further than a single stretch would reach.
  • Touch the candy to finish the level.
  • Collect the stars along the way for a better rating.

Momentum

The reach of a stretch is fixed and short. Distance comes from swinging, and swinging is a matter of releasing at the right point in the arc.

Let go too early and you go up without going across. Let go too late and you drop. The release point is roughly where the arc flattens out, and once your hand learns it the game changes character entirely.

Tips and strategy

Plan the route, not the grab

Before touching anything, look at the whole screen and pick the sequence of surfaces you intend to use. Levels are built around one intended path, and the anchors that path uses are usually the ones placed slightly out of the way.

Working with the world

  • Moving platforms are timers. Wait one cycle and watch where they are at the top and bottom of their travel.
  • Some blocks fall when you land on them, which is sometimes the point rather than a hazard.
  • If a surface looks decorative but is placed exactly where nothing else is, it is not decorative.

The stars

  • Do the level once, any way that works, to learn its shape.
  • Replay it looking only at the stars.
  • Most stars sit along the intended path rather than off it, so a full clear usually means a cleaner route, not a longer one.

Common frustrations

  • Trying to reach the candy directly. Almost no level allows it.
  • Grabbing at the nearest surface out of reflex, which kills momentum you have just built.
  • Repeating a failed attempt without changing the release point. That single variable is what the level is testing.

Frequently asked questions

How do you move in Catch the Candy?

By stretching out to a surface and sticking to it, then swinging and releasing. There is no walking or jumping, only anchoring and momentum.

How many levels are there?

Dozens, and they escalate from simple reaches to routes that need several linked swings.

What are the stars for?

They rate your run. Most of them sit along the intended route, so collecting them tends to mean finding the cleaner solution rather than a longer one.

Why can I not reach the candy?

The stretch has a fixed and fairly short reach. Distance comes from swinging and releasing at the point where the arc flattens out.

Is Catch the Candy free?

Yes. It runs in the browser, free, with nothing to download.
